Meet Gracen McKenzie

Gracen McKenzie is a passionate and experienced individual who has been chosen to facilitate the tri-annual Write to Discover (WTD) Workshop hosted by INKspire. WTD is a free virtual creative writing program for youth aged 15-24. The winter workshop series will focus on playwriting, participants will learn to look at theater from a multidisciplinary perspective. Gracen is thrilled to lead an engaging program with participants from across Canada.

At the age of 13, Gracen discovered their love of storytelling. This passion has continued to grow throughout their life. Currently, they are pursuing a creative writing major and illustration minor at OCAD University. Gracen has big dreams, including writing a poetry book, publishing a children’s novel, and designing a video game. Gracen has a special place in their heart for theater. They believe playwriting is an excellent medium to tell stories and explore different themes. Fun fact: Les Miserables is their favorite play!

Gracen strongly believe in INKspire’s mission to create accessible spaces for young artists. They recognize that there are limited opportunities to get involved in the arts. Now, in the role of WTD Workshop facilitator, Gracen is determined to foster a sense of community among young artists and provide them with a platform to express themselves. Ultimately, their goal is to empower participants to find and grow their passion for storytelling.

Participants of WTD can look forward to a transformative experience in playwriting. Through passion, experience, and a commitment to INKspire’s mission, Gracen will help foster a vibrant community of storytellers.
